Dinner at Paul Martin's

So we thought we would kick off our blog with a bang! We visited three fabulous restaurants in three two days!
Our first stop was the ever so favorite and popular, Paul Martin's in Roseville. I had never eaten a meal there so I thought it was a good place to start with a clean palate, so to speak...
We called ahead being that it was 7pm on a Friday night. The hostess was accommodating and friendly. She fit us in at 8pm with a last minute reservation. When we arrived it was busy but the atmosphere was soothing. The bar was packed with thirty something's and up. I liked the age group and felt I fit in perfectly, seeing I am around that age range....cough cough. The bartender was prompt with making our drinks after I caught his attention, we could say that he was "female friendly" as we waited for a table. I had a Bloody Mary with my partner ordering a Firestone Beer. Quoted to be, "Delicious and smooth with a little hop." The Bloody Mary was actually not my favorite. That is the drink of my choice for most occasions so I'm not afraid to say that I could be slightly considered an expert! I'm not sure what it was lacking exactly, horseradish or Tabasco?  Either way I will not order that next time.
As for appetizer starters, we went with the Grilled Artichoke with Aioli sauce. It was simply delicious. There was a light peppercorn flare on the edges of the artichoke, grilled to perfection. The Aioli was the perfect flavor and complimented the artichokes seasoning.
We then moved to the salad. I ordered the Butter Lettuce salad with candied walnuts. The dressing was lovely and the butter lettuce so soft and flavorful. A perfect follow up from the Artichoke. As the waiter visited our table promptly and regularly it gave us the opportunity to question him on our menu choices and specials for the night. I was informed that one of the specials for the evening was the Seared Mahi Mahi with a pineapple salsa. The Mahi Mahi was cooked perfectly. It was a large piece of fish, tender yet flaky as well. I did feel the pineapple salsa was a nice compliment to the fish but the Mahi lacked a bit of  flavor. I was a little disappointed but it was cooked well and I have a tendency to like spicy or blackened fish so it may be my taste for more spice and that may not have been the chefs intention.  The other entree ordered was the Lobster with Filet Mignon. The filet was ordered medium rare and was cooked exactly to order. It was juicy and perfect. The Lobster was also cooked perfectly. The texture was chewy and a bit soft, very flavorful. My only little complaint was that the melted butter was unsalted so it lacked the butteryness. Not sure if that's a word but it fits. But butter is always a matter of preference so for health conscious reasons I cant knock them for using unsalted butter.
There was a few choices of dessert and one stood out the most, Banana Cream Pie! I wanted it so badly but I was too full to order it. I am determined to return soon and get a slice of that darn pie!
All in all dinner was a very delicious and a satisfying experience. I will definitely return and look forward to my next meal at Paul Martin's.
